MomEnough.com Interview Posted Online

We’re very happy to announce that MomEnough.com has posted information about the book along with an interview they conducted with Betsy and me.

You can find the interview here: http://momenough.com/2014/10/explaining-cancer-to-a-child

It was a very nice discussion, and hit upon many of the themes of the book. I hope you enjoy it.

As we try to jump start some movement of the book into the holidays, I’m hoping you will:

1. Click on the link… listen to the interview
2. Share this link on your Facebook page and/or through email to anyone you think might be interested

You are my best marketing team for this book… so if each of you could share this with 4-5 others in your network it would be extremely helpful.

Thanks… and please let me know what you think of the interview!

Pre-Holiday Promotion Help?

As we head into the holidays, I have actually started to test a Facebook ad campaign to promote the book. It will be interesting to see how it does driving traffic.

With the launch of the ads, I will be directing people to the Amazon page to purchase the book. This means Amazon reviews are going to be particularly important in helping turn browsers into purchasers.

If you have been considering reviewing the book on Amazon, this would be a great time to do it! (link below)

(Oh… and I don’t have any reviews on iTunes at this time for the e-book… so that would be great too.)

As always, thanks so much for your support!

Holiday Promotional Push

I’m starting to cobble together thoughts around a holiday promotional push for the book. Part if this is going to rely on all of you. Here are a few things you could do that would be greatly helpful in driving sales in the next four weeks:

  • Online reviews:  I could still use as many Amazon reviews as possible.  I’m trying some Facebook ads that will push people to the Amazon page, so positive reviews will be critical in helping convince people to buy the book.  Please click on this link to submit a review:

http://www.amazon.com/Here-Comes-Sun-Familys-Journey/dp/1592989756/ref=pd_rhf_gw_p_d_3

  • Reviews on other sites:  I don’t have ANY reviews right now on iTunes.  I would love to get some.  You can click this link to submit a review for iTunes:  (just search “Here Comes the Sun” and Book and the listing for the e-book will come up.
  • Word of mouth:  This is the most direct way you can help.  Tell your friends.  Recommend the book to people.  Suggest it to book clubs.  Your personal outreach to friends will make a huge difference!
  • Contact your local bookstore:  Ask them to stock the book.  Again, this is how stores will know there is a demand for the book.

I have been so happy with the response to the book thus far.  The notes and e-mails I have received… the great turnout at the events… it has been overwhelming to get such great support.  I have even had the chance to meet with a few book clubs to talk about the book which has been really fun (would love to do more, if you have a book club).

I’m still hoping to schedule some visits to other cities in the coming year, so keep sending me those ideas as well.

Thank you for all that you have done as part of this book launch.

MPR Story Tomorrow

Minnesota Public Radio reporter Lorna Benson interviewed me about the book for a segment that will air Thanksgiving morning during the newscasts.

Please tune in to listen. If you are outside of Minnesota you can tune to http://www.mpr.org to listen.

I will also post the segment here after it airs.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Book Launch Update – Thank you!!

I wanted to update you all after completing the first wave of publicity and promotion of the book release.

Most of all I want to say, “Thank you.”

When I decided to publish this book my hope was that I would be able to use our story to connect with people in a positive way. So far the response has been beyond anything I could have hoped for.

Through four launch events… another three bookstore events (thank you Birchbark Books, The Bookcase, and Common Good Books)… and media coverage from Fox 9, KARE-11, WCCO radio, the Star Tribune and Pioneer Press… the last couple of weeks have been incredible.  Your enthusiasm for the book and your kind words have been overwhelming.

Special thanks to the two organizations that I am supporting with this book.  The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Be The Match have been enthusiastic supporters.  I’m proud to be associated with them.

With the initial launch behind us, we’re now turning our attention to the next phase of promotion.

On Saturday in Minneapolis there is a conference bringing together all of the bone marrow transplant centers from around the country.  Be The Match has offered me a table to sell and promote the book, so that will be an exciting day.

I’m starting outreach to some more bookstores to schedule events… so if you have ideas for me please send them along.

We’re also starting to talk about visiting other cities to promote the book.  We’ll have to plan these visits out well in advance and space them out over time… but we really want to get to other markets so please send me your ideas for cities and bookstores in those cities so we can develop a plan.

Finally… we need all of you to continue to serve as our ambassadors… as our word of mouth team.

Over the next week or so please make an effort to:

  • Talk about the book with your friends (and I’d love to attend your book club discussions if you’re interested in that)
  • Post about the book on Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads and Pinterest
  • Call your local bookstore and ask them to stock the book
  • Consider writing a customer review on Amazon.com (and Goodreads… and any other book site).  These reviews are critical in helping people discover the book, so the more I can get posted the better!

You are a key part of our team in helping this book find an audience.  Thanks for all you’ve done so far!

I’ll post more as we schedule the next round of events.
