First Place! Midwest Book Awards!

I’m very honored to report that Here Comes the Sun received first place in the Autobiography/Memoir category for the Midwest Book Awards!

It was a very fun event last night. I’m posting some images from the evening including our “after party” going out of celebratory ice cream!

Thank you all for your continued support!

Book Launch Update – Thank you!!

I wanted to update you all after completing the first wave of publicity and promotion of the book release.

Most of all I want to say, “Thank you.”

When I decided to publish this book my hope was that I would be able to use our story to connect with people in a positive way. So far the response has been beyond anything I could have hoped for.

Through four launch events… another three bookstore events (thank you Birchbark Books, The Bookcase, and Common Good Books)… and media coverage from Fox 9, KARE-11, WCCO radio, the Star Tribune and Pioneer Press… the last couple of weeks have been incredible.  Your enthusiasm for the book and your kind words have been overwhelming.

Special thanks to the two organizations that I am supporting with this book.  The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Be The Match have been enthusiastic supporters.  I’m proud to be associated with them.

With the initial launch behind us, we’re now turning our attention to the next phase of promotion.

On Saturday in Minneapolis there is a conference bringing together all of the bone marrow transplant centers from around the country.  Be The Match has offered me a table to sell and promote the book, so that will be an exciting day.

I’m starting outreach to some more bookstores to schedule events… so if you have ideas for me please send them along.

We’re also starting to talk about visiting other cities to promote the book.  We’ll have to plan these visits out well in advance and space them out over time… but we really want to get to other markets so please send me your ideas for cities and bookstores in those cities so we can develop a plan.

Finally… we need all of you to continue to serve as our ambassadors… as our word of mouth team.

Over the next week or so please make an effort to:

  • Talk about the book with your friends (and I’d love to attend your book club discussions if you’re interested in that)
  • Post about the book on Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads and Pinterest
  • Call your local bookstore and ask them to stock the book
  • Consider writing a customer review on (and Goodreads… and any other book site).  These reviews are critical in helping people discover the book, so the more I can get posted the better!

You are a key part of our team in helping this book find an audience.  Thanks for all you’ve done so far!

I’ll post more as we schedule the next round of events.

Big news!! Here Comes the Sun is officially listed on Amazon for pre-orders!!

It’s kind of wild to finally see the book posted… it finally seems real. It’s also a little nerve wracking because release date is coming up fast now!

Maybe you can help me with an experiment. If you search “Here Comes the Sun” in books I’m the eleventh title down on the page.

I’m not sure how the Amazon logarithms work, but if you feel inclined to click on this link multiple times today, I’m sure it couldn’t hurt! Maybe we can move the book up the search ladder!!

Oh… and if you feel inclined to pre-order… well that would be quite cool as well!

Thanks again for all your support and encouragement! Release day is coming soon, and it means so much to have you on the team!

Announcement: First bookstore events!!

I’m very excited to announce that I have booked my first two book signing events at two great bookstores:

On Saturday, September 28 I will be signing books at:

Birchbark Books
2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
2115 W 21st Street
Minneapolis, MN

On Wednesday, October 9 I will be signing books at:

Common Good Books
7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
65 Western Ave N
St Paul, MN

If you are able to make it to one of these store events, I would really appreciate it.  Bookstore events are the best way to generate buzz for a book AND to convince bookstore owners to keep the book in stock due to demand.

I am working on finalizing details for a book signing at The Bookcase in Wayzata. I will pass along those details soon.

If you know of a bookstore that you think would be good for a signing event please send me the suggestion on the contact section of this website.

We’re only a few weeks away from the book launch!  Very excited to see everything coming together… and I’m even more excited to share the book with you all!
